Poinciana Area Council (PAC) hosts PoincianaFest 2019
The Poinciana Area Council (PAC) hosted their 3rd annual PoincianaFest at Valencia College Poinciana Campus on Saturday, November 2nd. This event that celebrates local business and the Poinciana community includes business vendors, food trucks, entertainment, and activities for children.
PoincianaFest is in its third year of partnership with Valencia College. Prior to 2017, the event was known as the Poinciana Business and Community Expo. The original idea of this vendor fair has remained, while adding many fun elements for community members of all ages to enjoy.
The event kicked off at 11 am with welcoming words from Poinciana Area Council Chairman Jose Figueroa of Poinciana Printing and Signage and Chamber President/CEO John Newstreet. The Valencia courtyard was filled with vendor booths from our business community, as well as a KidZone complete with art activities and face painting for kids provided by volunteers from Valencia and Poinciana High School. The Valencia community was well-represented with several booths providing everything from information about academic programs to school swag.
Attendees enjoyed a Veteran’s Day tribute from choral students at Poinciana Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA), and PAFA dancers of all ages offered a series of performances that ranged from ballet to hip hop to the Charleston! Pianist Kiara Rouse from the Osceola County School of the Arts rounded out the performers.
In the afternoon, Valencia College Poinciana Campus Dean Dr. Jennifer Robertson presented a special recognition to Representative Mike La Rosa to thank him for his support in bringing Valencia to the Poinciana Area and following the school’s opening. His unique award consisted of a miniature billboard modeled after one that advertised the new campus.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office was present with their helicopter as well as their motor unit, horseback unit, airboat, and the crowd favorite Murphy the Therapy Dog. At the end of the day, one lucky winner won 4 tickets to see the Orlando Magic take on the San Antonio Spurs. Prizes from the Girl Scouts of Citrus Council, the Central Florida Expressway Authority, and Toho Water Authority were also awarded to lucky raffle winners. All proceeds from the PAC-sponsored raffle will go toward the support of Poinciana-area schools.
PoincianaFest was sponsored by Poinciana Medical Center, Toho Water Authority, and CenterState Bank, who brought their mascot Penny the Pig along for the festivities.
PoincianaFest will be back next fall. PAC looks forward to welcoming new and returning business vendors, as well as more fun and entertainment from the community. Check out the video below for a glimpse at PoincianaFest 2019.
